Adding fog lights to GTD MK7
« on: 19 April 2015, 18:24 »
Hello Im new here.

I drive new GTD but it has no halogen lights, Id like to install it. Called my VW dealer nearby but they told that it is not possible because of ecu controlling lights and the rest. I hope it won't be truth :)

Maybe someone will be able to help :)

Thanks

Hi, can I ask why you would want to downgrade from bi-xenon to halogen? I really don't see a good reason to do so?

I'm not sure he is talking about downgrading, maybe about fitting additional lights, like fogs in front bumper.

All GTDs GTIs and R come standard with fog lights fog lights unless I'm mistaken.

The lights are one of the biggest draws of the Performance ranges

OP is in Poland, they might have quite different specs on cars... much like I had to order Xenons on my UK GT estate, whereas most EU countries have the Xenons as standard (with Halogen DRL only thou) on the Highline models.

Mk7 R doesn't have fogs.

Ah I see. I knew the U.S. Spec models didn't come standard, but I assumed the euro spec was all the same and I know the GTD in the UK all come standard with Xenon and Fogs. My R isn't being delivered for another week, but I assumed it had fogs.

booth are you in the UK?

The R lost the fogs as it needs the space for larger air intakes for cooling.
