Fogs on the GTI are not really fit for their purpose, they are rubbish in fog (cold color coming from LEDs when it's well known that in fog, the light needs to be yellowish to be efficient). In my view, the only 2 things the fogs on the GTI are good for is:

1) aggressive look
2) useful when set as coming/leaving home lights.

I had a look for some sort of scientific evidence about yellow fogs and after reading lots of pages of stuff written that basically says "I've been driving for years and I always use yellow" anecdotal (at best) evidence, I found this posting:
