tire pressure loss ind- error

so my wife's new mk7 displayed a 'tire pressure loss ind- error' on the MFD a couple of times.  Does this refer to pressure loss (i checked all wheels, no pressure loss), or a fault with the actual sensor system?  It's a brand new car with less than 1000 miles on it.

hi there.  not really, it does come up from time to time with no apparent reason - whenever I check tires they are ok - so i guess i will be waiting till its first service to check it out.  let me know how it goes with yours in case your service comes earlier

hi there.  not really, it does come up from time to time with no apparent reason - whenever I check tires they are ok - so i guess i will be waiting till its first service to check it out.  let me know how it goes with yours in case your service comes earlier

Thanks for your response! Sure, I will come back to you if I have any update on this from the service... However it will take some time, my car has done only 400 kms so far. My guess is that some software update or service reset will solve the issue. We'll see...

If you have really strong changes in temperatures the pressure and shape of tyre change.

As I recall it was very hot in Hungary the last few months, but has been more fluctuating down to the teens.... that can upset pressure warning system as it is improved over previous gens. Had the same thing last year on winter holiday in Austria. -10 degrees, checked pressure, pumped tyres up a bit, reset pressure. Back in the UK after a bit of harsher driving at +10 I got a pressure warning, all OK and roughly where I pumped them up to in Austria.

Sometimes it just needs a reset.

As I recall it was very hot in Hungary the last few months, but has been more fluctuating down to the teens.... that can upset pressure warning system as it is improved over previous gens. Had the same thing last year on winter holiday in Austria. -10 degrees, checked pressure, pumped tyres up a bit, reset pressure. Back in the UK after a bit of harsher driving at +10 I got a pressure warning, all OK and roughly where I pumped them up to in Austria.

That could be down to some fault in the system, a random value from a sensor... however, if it were an ABS sensor I would expect the car to be reporting ABS errors as well... Electronics don't much like extremes of heat or cold...

So it's an error on tyre pressure monitoring rather than tyre pressure warning?

If so off to dealer or at least someone with VCDS.
