Just been catching up. Good job I didn't order two weeks ago and rely on the rubbish that VW were spouting.

Honestly, they do it because people still order as they want the car. Exonian, M135 for 26k. My brother is interested in one can you point me in the direction of the brokerage.

I can't believe how poor the customer service is and the information being provided or the lack thereof. Matchboy I can't believe the keyboard warrior tactics they employed.

How they can justify a 1650 price increase since when I bought my gtd in 2013 I don't know.

Having seen the mock ups of the 40th anniversary gti I wouldn't mind one but definitely not ordering until they bring some order to their ranks.

VW UK seem to contradict themselves at every turn when they're being grilled, they can only dole out so much bollocks before they trip themselves up.

Called Ronald back to see what he was after 2 weeks ago (he rang me literally as I was heading off for a job interview, then didn't ring back after 4:30pm as requested - he finishes at 6pm) - the following day I was off on my Mexico/Berlin hols. So he rang me purely to tell me my car had been built - I knew that, I got the text alerts. I asked him why no-one had satisfactorily explained why my Sept ordered car was now officially a Dec ordered car and therefore not late. He put me on hold for 5 mins while he "investigated". He then admitted it was late and said he would have to speak to my dealer. I asked him why and he wouldn't answer that direct question. I stated that if there is some deserved goodwill gesture due, I want it to be coming from VW UK's pocket, and not the dealership's bottom line - unless he can tell me that the dealership cocked up. He stuttered a bit and made his excuses to call me back later.

He rang back later to offer me a courtesy car. I said I would have one if it was an R, otherwise I would keep driving my GTD until my R turned up and needed to go in for p/x.

I asked about extended warranties - namely that the cost had gone up between the time of ordering and the time it was confirmed on my order - he referred me to the dealer and said I could add extended warranty any time in the future. I corrected him that the official "no restrictions" factory warranty extension has to be bought before the car is registered. He asked why I wanted one, so I replied "VWs aren't as reliable as they used to be, and if I have had to wait 8 months for one, I won't be getting another in 2 or 3 years time unless I order it well before I should even be thinking about a replacement".

With no need for a courtesy car, he made his excuses and his goodbyes. Will he strongarm the dealership into free Autoglym again? Seems that a goodwill gesture out of their own pocket (like a shopping voucher) is unlikely without more direct pressing. He's ringing again next Friday, hopefully to tell me the car has shipped. There is a ship coming from Emden to Tyne on Weds, but it's not a "City of X" ship, it's the HHL Volga.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

When I ordered my GTD last  year I went with the VW extended warranty and was told it can't be added after the car is built, EA9 5yrs 90k extended warranty.

Here's a link to the M135i MrP.

I'd kind of planned in my existing mk7 GTI order around the ED40 coming out in 2016 but like you, unless VW short their sh!t out a bit I'll look at alternatives as there's a whole raft of interesting stuff in the same segment that are due to be released over the next few years.

Exonian can you repost as no link.

I can see it now they 'sort' themselves out only go back to normal when the ed40 comes out as they will be inundated with orders.

Ooops!
 :embarrassed: Well it is Friday!!!

And yes, no doubt the launch will be a mess of what spec it may or may not have and 'how come a GTI costs the same as a base R' etc.

We are the tiny minority as the "performance Golf" owners. If you're ordering a 1.6TDI Match you can get it in 12 weeks. I think the idea of allocation is a bit outdated, does the wait limit orders? I think price is the main thing that keeps GTI/R numbers far lower than the rest of the Golf range (not so much the GTD numbers - many diesel owners are wanting those, the better GFVs make it not much more expensive than the lower diesel variants, and then there's the company car action). There aren't many moaners on the VWAudi forum that caters to all levels of trim. Waiting 4-8 months for a car rather than 8-12 weeks and paying 50-80% more than a bottom of the range Golf probably sets our expectations a lot higher than Mr 1.6TDI Match too.

Worries of RWD in the wet and ice (as well as looks) is probably what keeps most of us buying Golfs than 135's.

do you guys reckon the reason for such a long wait is because of the week 22 changes that are due to be applied eg the new MIB 11 6'5 screen ? Called up today and they said im probably looking at mid august which in total would be 5 months wait  :embarrassed:
