And still, on the new pricelist from this week the tech pack is 1240 on the gti but more on the r. Implying a higher standard nav offering on the gti.

Furthermore, as part of the explanation of the tech pack price, there is a box on there that shows what the individual upgrades would cost. And it states the cost of dynaudio plus the upgrade from dns to dns pro in this calculation.

There is of course the risk that if we continue to point this out, they will make the tech pack on gti/d the higher price.

Regarding twitter, can they actually prove who is tweeting vs an order anyway? (Not been a tweeter so I'm unsure on this)

I wonder if anyone has started picking their lotto numbers on 'number of amendments each day on the configurator, although I appreciate lotto numbers have to be 49 or lower. ☺

Yes well spotted.

The Tech Pack is also available for the GT – which has Discover Navigation as standard – so if you order a Tech Pack on a GT – you are paying more to upgrade to Pro. Realistically you are already half-way there with the Discover Nav – so should be less for the GT.

If you already have the nav pro can you now get Car-Net and how do you go about getting it?

You can't.

It needed some different hardware that was never available in the UK.

Word of warning for those tweeting VW UK - when waiting an age for my GTI I tweeted them on a few occasions asking more than reasonable questions - I was subsequently told by VW UK over the phone that if I continued tweeting negatively (I was only asking them questions) that they would cancel my order and they would not allow me to purchase a VW from any retailer.  So, in effect, blackmail and bullying.  Of course I ignored this, I won't bow to that as it's only a car after all, but this is what you're dealing with.  They do not like negative comments via twitter.  Which is why it's a fantastic tool to get them to hear us, and our views.

That's disgusting.

If they don't like having a public two way conversation, which is what Twitter is, then they should abandon Twitter. Companies still don't understand that Social Media is not just another junk mail platform, the conversation is two way - which means you need to be able to handle public kickings - or decide to quit using it.

I'd send that to some consumer TV or Radio program, because that's the kind of thing which doesn't play well to the public.

Its one thing to react to deliberate trolling or abuse, but really.

This is quite the biggest 21st century PR blunder I've ever heard!

Oh, believe me, I was fuming.  Even my dealer had told me to stop going on twitter and asking questions, so they'd contacted him too.  I wouldn't mind if I was trolling but I wasn't, I was asking genuine & legitimate questions as no one else within VW could give me a straight answer as to why my order was taking so long and also kept being delayed.

It worked though, magically within a few weeks I got my car.  And various apologies from group managers etc.

I'm not sorry and I would do the same again.  It beggars belief why it takes 7 months to give someone their car when BMW (for eg.) can do it in 2 months.

Assuming no trolling, threatening to cancel your order and banning you from ordering is ridiculous!  It is extremely poor behaviour on VW's part but then that's nothing new.  Glad you stood your ground and would do so again.

Agree if they are not prepared to face the music via Twitter and Facebook (and other social media) then they should stop using it.  Where I work we use twitter, FB etc, admittedly it's predominantly the domain of the disgruntled, but it has validity and if you are going to use it then you have to take the rough with the smooth.

VW probably have you tagged now as what's known as a Vexatious Customer

Apparantly everyone knew who I was at the time   That may have been something to do with the letter I sent off to their head honcho, which got passed around, detailing all the various issues.  It's not a Ferrari, it's a Golf.  I do not understand why these delays occur given all the cars are made in the same factory and under the same platform (eg. MH waiting 7 months for his R - really?!), and I cannot stand poor customer service.  The confusion with the configurator, the price increase for nothing (so it seems) and the delays on new orders people are experiencing on here unfortunately shows nothing has changed with VW, but it made me feel better at the time!

If we were talking about buying chocolate bars, i could understand the lack of customer care.

But we are talking about the second most expensive thing anyone will ever typically buy - a car (number one being a house).

But you get less apparent care for potential or new customers than you do from a chocolate bar maker.

Sadly they get away with it, because we all need cars and they are all just as bloody poor.

If you already have the nav pro can you now get Car-Net and how do you go about getting it?

Car-Net cars will have a SIM slot so it can connect to the internet or you can do it via RSAP. So I doubt very much if the architecture is in the current models.
Also if anyone with an iphone is looking to order Car-Net, they will have to jailbreak their iphone.

My Mrs Audi went from a fulling working Audi Connect with some great features to virtually having nothing after I had got her the iphone 6 for her Xmas. I totally forgot about the car needing RSAP to do its stuff

You do tend to exhibit a slightly vicious streak at times.

Your pointed and valid questions must have struck a nerve and VW were caught with their pants down and as they were unable to answer you logically and honestly reacted in a completely illogical and ridiculous manner. A rather poor show by them.

Good on you for taking them on.
