Finally it seems there could possibly be an answer as to why the Tech Pack costs less on a GTI/D

http://www.golfmk7.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9563

The GTI/D looks like it might be getting the nav as standard BUT the list price is going up by nearly a grand.

So where the Edition 40 will sit in between the GTI and R if the prices between them are getting tighter and tighter is anyone's guess.

That would make sense, and brings it into line with the other models that have nav as standard and the pack at the lower price.

If that's the case then will the R Estate get nav as standard?  Shows as extra on configurator, which of course may be wrong.  Tech pack is at the lower price on the R Estate so if the others get nav as standard, surely the R Estate should too??

God knows quite how they are going to price the ED40?? As you say, if there is a £1k price hike, it will be a very slim price gap between the GTI/D and the R.

Interesting. Does that mean some lucky people (not me) who ordered the GTI/D at the current prices could end up getting free Sat Nav if the build date is post BW22?

There could be some very happy 'soon to be' owners if so.
Seems a bit daft VW released the options before the price rise went live.
Let's see what happens, I'm sure those with cars on order will keep us posted.

VW seem to be a company in disarray when it comes to prices, options and configurator.

Understatement of the week.  Let's hope VW's ineptitude is prospective new GTI/D owner's gain.

VW or (more likely) VW UK, riding on the back of high £:E exchange rates and therefore raking it in. Makes no sense to up the GTI and GTD RRPs even closer to that of the R if basic nav is included on the GTI/GTD, makes the GTI seem an even worse proposition than it may already look on paper.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

The PDF download pricelist (which is where I got the info re the exta specs on the GTD Estate) says sat-nav is still an optional extra on the R Estate.

Yeah, that's what I thought and it's backed up on the configurator too.  The Tech pack is still at £1240 for the R Estate so still prices all over the place and inconsistent.  Can't say I'm surprised but it would've made more sense for the Tech pack price to be the same as the R.

I have just read somewhere that the GTD estate comes with standard Nav, keyless and sound pack. That surely can't be right. Two of those were options I (along with others) paid nearly a grand for.

I am due to meet the dealer on sunday to see what we can work out on a GTI PP/R. Any news on an ED 40 as I may wait if one is forthcoming

See Exonian's post a few days ago.  Looks like the GTI/D may be getting basic nav as standard soon, but with a price rise on the car.   Doesn't look like the R will get it as standard though.
