Dear Monsieur monkeyhanger:

I am tall, very slim, clean shaven, full head of hair, very well groomed and very, very handsome,...

Is that what you put in your 'advert'   I think it might be wasted on Monsieur MH

It does seem a cruel twist of fate to have your build week constantly pushed back and then it finally gets built just before BW22

And I have got all me own teeth !!

Oh, yes. So do I and not a single filling!

I really do think it is a pricing error (same price to add to a DNS equipped GT/SE), and the R price is correct for GTI/GTD/R. If the GTI/GTD orders get accepted by the factory before they realise their mistake (assuming it is a mistake) then it's their loss, not yours.

Just maybe, it is a genuine price and VW are using it to dampen enthusiasm for R while they can't make them quick enough? That assumes some would pick a GTI/GTD over an R for cheaper options rather than performance.

They once made a mistake a few years ago when loads of Mk6 Match models arrived from the factory with the RNS 510 rather than RCD 510. So a lot of people got a free and un-expected Sat Nav upgrade!

They rumoured that leather would be free before and it never happened. You'd never buy a car if you kept waiting for BW changes. The R420 is being revealed in September at Frankfurt too.

Sometimes they do include leather as standard when they are running out the last of a mk.  It was included on my current mk6 GTI which I got shortly before they mk7 came in.

Agree though that you simply can't keep waiting for the next upgrade.  If I was much further down the line with my R order I wouldn't bother with the Tech Pack, but as it's imminent and I'm still very much in unconfirmed build week territory then it's worth doing.

Yeah historically the Mk5 and Mk6 GT, GTI and GTD models got free leather during run out, so I'd expect the same might happen for the Mk7. But agree its not worth constantly waiting as by the time that happens the Mk8 will be roound the corner!

Contacted my dealer yesterday to see if they required my p/x, as my mate now wants it if he can have it for the agreed p/x price, and with the R being put back and back, their margin in it is dwindling by the week.

Yes they still want it to subsidise my heavily discounted R, so my mate is out of luck, but letting him drive mine for a week by way of extended test drive while i'm out of action and he might lease a GTD. Salesman said the R has dropped back to  BW18/19 on Friday(from BW21 Tues).....VW UK made good on their attempts to "push" my order, or is Wolfsburg scheduling THAT volatile right now?
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

So near and yet so far to get the 6.5" CMS from BW22 onwards.

Update from my dealer this morning but still no answer to the R Tech Pack pricing question.  Looks like I'll have to wait till VWUK sort themselves out, before I can add the pack.  Usual top class service from VWUK

Hi Rebecca,

Volkswagen has introduced these options but the factory ordering system will not let us currently add the Tech pack, and the Park pack is not yet showing.

Volkswagen UK are aware of this, with product and marketing in the process of sorting this out, I hope at the same time they will come back to me about the pricing

I will let you know once the Tech pack has been added.

Quite.

The email should really read:

Hi Rebecca,

Volkswagen has introduced these options but the factory ordering system will not let us currently add the Tech pack, and the Park pack is not yet showing. has absolutely no idea what they are doing.  One fine day you may be lucky enough to order the options they prematurely offer on their website, at whatever discriminatory price they deem high enough to screw prospective R owners......but don't hold your breath!!!

What was seatgate all about then wigit?

Ha, ha. Good one! VW don't know whether they are Arthur or Martha. Probably Marthur!

Had the same drama last year when I tried to order Dynaudio. It was on the Configurator but not enabled for a Dealer to order it. By the time it was and included on the Dealer Order System, 3 weeks after my original order was accepted by the Factory, the BW moved from 2, then 4, then 9, then 7, then 8, then back to 7 where it remained. So it was up and down like a hooker's knickers!

Talk about turning customers into Marthurs.

It is really bad towards the end whilst waiting for your car to get from the Fatherland Port of Emden to a port in Blighty. The guys on the R forum were tracking boats on an hourly basis! They were going nuts as later BW cars were arriving before earlier BW ones. How crazy is that? Never seen so many Marthurs on a car forum.
