No, I haven't put the order through yet. Probably tomorrow!
The dealer and VW IRL indicated that they'd be able to delay the build week so that it doesn't get built until week 22. I'm not entirely convinced this will work though.

I'm in Ireland and I got my dealer to look into this today.

He contacted VW Ireland and they have confirmed that the new media units will appear from BW-22. The catch here is that it's likely to be accompanied by a slight price hike.

Do you have an order already in the system?  If so did your dealer say what the process for ensuring you get the new unit would be?

Wondering if current orders (DNS specced) built after BW22 will automatically get upgraded to the new unit or whether you'd have to add it to your order after week 22 to replace the original option??

Ah, I see thanks.  Well I hope it goes through ok, let us know how you get on and your spec  :smiley:

'They' say 6.5" is pleasure and 8" is pain. But a mere £420 extra for an extra 1.5" is worth the risk!  :laugh:

The DNS Pro has an 8" Screen not an 8.5" Screen.

That's what I meant. Same diff :P

Really?  :rolleyes:

I know every half inch counts to you men, but size means nothing to me, haha  :whistle:  :laugh:

Haha Booth :D I was resisting that kind of joke myself.

It's a big price to pay but I think it's worth it. I was prepared to pay £1000 more for the DNS Pro over the DNS so £400 (due to Dynaudio being thrown in) is absolutely fine to me.

My brother has the DNS Pro in his R and when I get out of that and into the standard DNS on my GTI it looks tiny and lowers the overall quality of feel of the cabin. The DNS Pro fits perfectly in the centre console.
Current - MK7 Golf GTI - Tornado Red, 5 Door, DSG, Performance Pack, Dynamic Chasis Control, Panoramic Sunroof, Discover Navigation, Dynaudio.

On Order - MK7 Golf R - Pearlescent Black, 3 Door, DSG, Vienna Leather, Discover Nav Pro, Rear View Camera, High Beam Assist, Keyless Entry, Dynaudio (Tech Pack)

All gone.

Now;

MK7 Golf R - Lapiz Blue, 5 Door, DSG, Carbon Nappa, Discover Nav Pro.

Yes, the 8" DNS Pro is very attractive especially to thieves!

Yep, SOLD thrice!!!

I'm going to be gutted if this Tech Pack thing doesn't come to fruition now.  Oh, what have you done   :grin:

I will not let thieves dictate what I spend my money on, if t gets nicked, it gets nicked, car or stereo/nav.  I will have GAP insurance.

@Joe
Whose is your Irish Dealer? Did they mention the tech pack to you? I ordered 3 weeks ago and included the tech pack so I'm assuming no matter what BW I get I won't get the new system.

Hey Damo,
It's Western Motors in Galway.
Yes, tech pack. I'm told (directly by VW Ireland) that if I order by March 31, I'll get the tech pack. There's no guarantees on it if I delay beyond that but there's a strong feeling that it'll stay for  post March ordered cars.

If your car is built on or after week 22, you will get the new system! I'm not sure how VW Ireland will work that, I can only assume you'd still get the tech pack, with the nicer newer screen.

Also not sure if a price hike would affect you in that scenario too. I got caught like that before. A price hike between order and delivery and I had to cough up.

My dear Miss Booth:
You owe it to yourself to be a High Tech Hannah. :cool: :smiley:

What I still cannot understand is that exactly the same Tech Pack on the GTD/GTI is £1240 whereas for the R it is £1840.

Most odd.

Hanna? The film?  Enlighten me  :smiley:

Nor I.  I have my dealer looking into it, but I'm working on the assumption that the higher R price is what I will be expected to pay  :sad:
