Loved my dealer's response after me asking what it had dropped back to. He broke the news with the simple words,

"It is currently showing week 48!"

Think he's more shocked than me.  I did use your same experience as an example to get across to him that it's most probably a temporary MY2016 system glitch.  It had better be

What was your original estimated BW?

I had a BW20 at one point that I know of, originally ordered the last weekend in February. Compared to when I bought my Mk6 this is nothing.... yet!

Just heard from my dealer.  As suspected now BW48

BW48? That must be a temporray "time out" from the system preparing to reshuffle everyone in post BW22 surely? Unless you ordered the new £1640 paint job made with powdered Unicorn horns suspended in it.

Why yes I did add the special unicorn horn paint with gold leaf flake, to be licked on by Siamese kittens, maybe that's it!

It no doubt is a MY2016 crossover default 'holding week'.

I just got a screenshot of my updated MY2016 spec from my dealer and there's a few interesting things on it:

1. Cellphone interface in combination with Car-Net - option code 9IE

2. Car-Net eRemote. Contract Duration 3 years. 1 year free of charge - option code YOW

3. USB interface for iPhone - option code UI4

So it would appear I get the "e-Remote" feature?! I've no idea what the cellphone interface thing is. Dealer doesn't know either.

And judging from #3, it looks like the old MDI connection is no more. It's replaced by the new USB interface.

My car is currently provisional week 29, I'm being told the Pretorias are in short supply...

I'd hazard a guess that its a SIM card slot in between the 2 SD cards in the Glove box.

Otherwise if you have an iPhone the system become redundant unless you jailbreak it.

Interesting, thanks

When did you order?  Presume you've specced Pretorias on yours?

No idea what the Cellphone interface thingy is either.

I'll could ask my dealer for similar detail but assume it would be the same as yours.

Yes, I've ordered the prets. I ordered on March 30th. I had expected the car to go into production this or next week but as I said I'm now out at 29 and who knows, it could go out more...

I should add I am in Ireland, so the dates aren't really comparable to you guys.

Ah, ok, thanks.  Mine's dropped back to BW48 (from 28) but that's to do with the system year changes, hoping that may just be temporary slip but who know?

Mine was 22/23. Then it was 28. Now it's 29. I'm also told it's due to MY2016 as well as the Prets issues. If I was told 48 I'd be cancelling...

That is an option, but there's talk that the BW48 shunt (I'm not the only one) may just be a holding week whilst the system changes over.  I'll give it time to settle and then see what the situation is.  Dealer is keeping an eye on it with a view to contacting VWUK if necessary.

If it was my own money and they mucked me around like that I'd be buying a BMW (even if they suck ;-)) and I'd be down the BMW garage the same day.

The "usual" VW 4-6 months waiting is quite honestly poor enough, this is just a joke.

Just not good enough when you are spending 35k on a car.
