Makes me feel a bit better about being week 21!

Haha Jimble, I bet it does.  Only losing out on 0.7 of an inch after all

And as a future post BW22 R owner makes me feel better too since we were getting bugger all apart from the bigger screen, and the privilege of paying more for the optional tech pack

Yes, was exactly that, confirmation by the dealer after they had confirmation from vw uk.
Not ordered yet,  and the supposed freebies would have probably tipped the balance in favour of buying a gti.

Never mind.

Yeah, that's back luck mate.  Are you inclined to look elsewhere now?

Mind you, if you leave it a week or so, VW will probably change their minds again!

If DNS is not going to be standard on the GTI/D now, it rekindles the question over justification of the higher tech pack price on the R.  The lower pack price on the GTI/D made sense if basic nav was to be standard as is the case with the lower models, but doesn't anymore if nav is not be standard spec

Agreed, so much inconsistency at the moment!

Yes, the tech pack price discrepancy still makes we think that dns might be coming standard soon? Although as has been suggested here, the tech pack price could change.  Maybe it's just so anyone that orders now and manages to get a car from stock can't complain about the missing items  (although the screen would presumably also be 5.8")

And, the gtd estate still has the extra kit showing as standard but it still the 'normal ' price premium over the 5 door hatchback.

The Nav has GOT to be standard otherwise the price rise is a piss take.
As said, it's the only way the price discrepancy with the Tech Pack on the R can make any sense at all. Not that we can trust VW UK to make any sense. The factory make pretty fine cars (for what they are) but the UK online marketing and pricing people need to get on the pace, it's not like VW UK are struggling for money and orders is it?

I'm in negotiation with a dealer re a GTI PP - but just e-mailed him to say not going any further until VWUK put their house in order.

Has anyone who does Twitter pulled them up on this nonsense yet - I understand they are keen to deal with issues raised publicly there?

Was just having a look on the VW website and noticed the Polo, Passat and Scirocco have all had a 27/4/2015 update to their price list, but nothing yet for the Golf.  There's a lot of standard Navs being thrown around so it would make sense if the GTI and GTD got it.

I also noticed that the Car-Net ‘App-Connect’ is coming in at £100 on Composition Media and Standard Nav, but no extra cost on the Pro Nav.  It's a bit out of order charging anything extra for a bit of connectivity that's supposed to be central to what the new stereos have to offer.

100 extra for the extra connectivity is juat about acceptable (although I take the point about it missing part of what the new system is all about), whereas not bundling base nav is not.

Presume all this connectivity comes through the driver's phone, so a decent data plan would be a good idea?
