You're not considering spending any further on this are you? What you have there, is a "for parts only car"

Sorry...

I had mine off recently and only a few smallish rust bubbles. This has reminded me to get those seen to though.......
It's a mk2. Fill it, drive it, enjoy it.

Jeeeez, what that Golf needs is a new Golf.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

or if you wanted to put the work into the car, why not get new weld in arches, looks bad, but not irreparable

That's the inner arches shot as well then.  I replaced a few small sections of mine years ago... To prevent that!

Sorry, but poor advice, that corrosion is terminal, that shell will need floor pans, inner and outer sills, inner and outer wheel arches, almost certainly the rear shocker mounts rebuilding, its simply not worth it, for money, or safeties sake

When buying a Mk2, the condition of the shell is now everything! anything else can easily be replaced

OP, Cut and run from this car, don't get consumed by it...

When a man who does bodywork for a living, right up to preparing race cars etc. is telling you to get shot. I would stick those arches back on, delete this thread and get shot

I mean yeah, I don't really know my arse from my elbow, so should probably heed the advice of more experienced members, who do know their stuff.

Still, I guess you know for the next one :)
