Will dealers do deals on the gtd estate? Or will it be best to wait a few months?

Chris: I'd wait until the brokers are advertising deals before going to see Mick (or someone else) and using those figures as leverage. We should've done that first time around, might've gotten a bit more off the GTDs.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

For my recently ordered R, I got quotes from Carwow, Orangewheels and Drivethedeal.  DTD best @ 12%, followed closely by OW. Got about 6 dealers contact through Carwow but discount varied greatly and most quite a way off the DTD offer, ordered last week via DTD and (following a recommendation from a forum member) requested a dealer fairly local to me, JCB Medway.  They were happy to oblige, so order placed, painless

If you want to go to your local dealer, get broker quotes, take the best one along with you to wave in their face.

I wouldn't be pulled in by that £750 deposit contribution only available Solutions, it might be cheaper with HP. No such thing as a free lunch but i don't know your situation but as always DYOR

Would have thought they would very keen - Golf estates have never been popular in the UK....

Although I got a better deal using DriveTheDeal I was impressed with carwow.

You just put the details of the car you are interested in and then 5 or 6 dealers reply with prices. Its anonymous in that the dealers don't get your email address or any details. You get a notification from carwow stating you have a reply and you just log in.
What I liked was you could then negotiate with them whereas with the brokers the price you are given is final. I got a couple of the carwow dealers to come down in price almost to what drivethedeal were doing it for but not quite.

So you have five dealers to deal with - you then presumably negotiate with several of them only to find that the final price is still more than the one it took two minutes to get on Drivethedeal?

I will be sticking with DtD for my next car purchase :-)

Yes you receive quotes from 5 or so local dealers and have the opportunity to discuss the offers with a human beforehand to check car availability, delivery dates etc Whereas dtd is a website and until you take the leap of faith you don't know how it will work out or where the dealer is located. Even though I took the leap and went with dtd I can see why Car wow will suit a lot of people.

I bought through DTD tried carwow and go to 10% with a dealer in Exter, DTD was just over 12% . Had to travel 300 miles to Medway from Cornwall but they fill the car with fuel so cost me a train fare. Did try to get a few freebies but got blanked. Sir was being a bit greedy

As there was a strong chance of me getting JCB Medway, and the max discount, going with DTD was a no brainer for me.  When I spoke with them on the phone to request JCB, they were very accomodating.  However it was worth getting the carwow and orangewheels quotes to compare even though I never bothered getting into negotiations with them.
