Pioneer Headunit wiring

Anyone had any experience wiring in a Pioneer DEH series head unit? I have an iso adapater but it is from Corsa so pretty much useless without rewiring. Im a wirey person so if anyone knows what wires go where that would be a great start ;)

If you have a Pioneer to ISO adaptor, I can't see why it won't work. You'll need to make sure both the red and yellow +ve's are permanent lives, but other than that, ISO is ISO.

Is there fuse in the radio itself?

I know the radio works as it literally came out of my corsa working, tried it in my golf, nothing and put it back in my corsa, fine. I have a corsa iso to pioneer adapter but the pins are obviously differently set up. The iso from the car doesnt have a permanent live so I cant turn the pioneer unit on. Apparently there is a perm live somewhere close but im not a wirey person so not really my forte.

Hang on, are you saying that the cars factory ISO plug doesn't have a permanent live? What radio was in the Golf to  begin with? Did that work? Have you checked the fuse?

Put "ISO radio pinout" into Google Images and you'll see what wires should be where.

Im not sure what radio model it was but it needed pins to take it ou8t of the dash. It wasnt just a handle that pulled it out. I dont know if it is actually called an iso cable.(the one from the car). The black and brown spluit blocks which all the cables in. The radio could be turned on with no key by turning the volume switch on, meaning it had a permanent live not an ignition live. (I think i may have said it backwards in the last post)

Only the very last Mk2's had an accessory position on the key for the radio. Nearly all cars radios were permanent live.

The Pioneer will expect standard ISO connectors, VW never sticks to the standard pin out thou....

I put a wiring diagram together for the mk3, that includes the standard ISO pin out, easy to sort out if you have a multimeter. You don't need to cut any wires to correct it, just unhook pins and put in in correct order.

Is there anywhere that sells a harness/adapter from vw to pioneer unit? I havent got a multimeter to test wires.
