Sorry for thread hijack lazyeedude, but at least we're talking about things with wheels

Don't you worry at all, Booth. A price I'm more than willing to pay for the shed load of advice I've been getting. Can't thank you all enough. Been invaluable deciphering all the jargon and 1,000,001 different specs, upgrades and options!!

It's looking like I may have to go through the trials of selling the Brera privately. There are zero GTis I can find with DSG and ACC at a garage for around the £14k mark. (tho most dealers have no idea what ACC is so won't have listed it, but I've gotten good at going all Sherlock on their pics!!)

Now I've got to get back to repeating my mantra, "I can't afford an R, I can't afford an R, I can't afford an R, I probably could possibly afford an R, NO, I can't afford an R"

Hey Hey Kids,

Yup, still looking!

Wanted to get your opinion on mileage. I know this is massively subjective, but 84,000mi seems a lot on a 6yr old car. Is this approaching a big, expensive service? Does the mk6 handle the miles well?

I know it's a Golf so they're generally as good at 80,000 as they are at 8,000, but I just wanted to get opinions. The car I found is packed with options but the high mileage and a fairly bargainous price tag do make me worry.

Thanks yet again for any help you can offer!

I wouldn't worry about the miles if its been well looked after.

A car that's done high motorway mileage can be a better buy than one that's done low mileage doing short runs around town and never warmed up properly.

84k in 6 years is fine, buy on condition...seat bolsters may show 'slight' wear and the bonnet might have some more chips but you can factor this in on the budget.
