Had mine refurbed but thinking of going down the powder coating road, couple of stone chips and the white worm comes back!

Don't blame you, cheaper too at around £50-£55 per wheel for a decent powder coating job.

Powder coating the shiny parts is never going to have the same finish as diamond cut which would put me off that idea. I'd rather put a nice set of BBS or VW Rotary wheels on if I didn't fancy diamond cut again.

Well no it isn't, if you want the exact same finish then that would require refurb back to a diamond cut finish.  I think it depends on the style and design of alloys whether they will look ok powder coated or not.   But at least it's an alternative for those sick of whiteworm, worried about it reappearing after refurb, and don't want to shell out for another set of wheels.

Having seen the recent examples of the VW Rotary's on here, I agree.  If the Monza Shadows are really mashed, ditch them and go for the Rotary's.  How much are they a set anyway?

I think they retail at something like £1200 a set. I'll have a word with my man at TPS and see what sort of deal he can do.

Yeah, £300 a piece on vw website.  Would you just run them as winters?  Not fancy a change throughout the warmer months?

There's a mint white one on the "for sale section"now.
Haha, nice one. Cheers Andy. Unfortunately it's a little too rich for my meagre budget. Been somewhat harpooned by the lower-than-expected trade-in price I've been offered for the Brera. Means I'm scouring the internet for a nice GTi in the £13k-£14k range, which is made harder by my search criteria!

Now I'm trying my best to decide which gadgets I want most. Do I go for a GTi with ACC but no other options over a GTi without ACC but packed with parking sensors, a sunroof and a reverse camera?  :undecided:

Thanks yet again for all the advice! Really appreciated!

Looks like I'm buying at the right time! Everyone's selling their mk6 for a mk7!

Here's a question that's massively subjective but it'd be interested to get your thoughts:
Assuming no difference in cost, would people rather have the ACC or a Reverse Camera?
-far easier to retrofit the camera if I really wanted both
-would I even miss the camera if I had parking sensors
-camera will always get used while the novelty of playing with the ACC may wear off.
-I do enough long journeys to make use of the ACC "Comfort" setting
-Am I really that good enough of a driver to make use of the "Sport" setting...or is it all in my mind!
-having a camera pop out from under the badge is just plain cool  (and just a little James Bond)

Can you tell I've been mulling this over for a while now?!  :undecided:

Who me?

I'd thought about getting a set of winters for the Golf to keep the Vancouvers pristine, but to be honest since starting cycling again last year I've lost all interest in cars. Even my Mk2. I can't see that going to many more shows as time taken getting it ready will be taking up valuable lycra wearing time.
