Searching for the right mk6

Afternoon all,
I was hoping for some advice. On the hunt for a mk6 GTi and trying to unravel the adverts.
Took a lovely example out yesterday that had the "bulb out" light on. Been told its had LED lights upgrade per the later model. Is this a standard mod? Easy enough to sort the computer to get rid of the dash light?
Also been told it's around £170 to get the rear parking sensors installed. That sound about right?
Are there some common faults on the Mk6 dsg I need to look out for?

Not too sure on the LED lights, I've seen them retrofitted successfully to a lot of early GTIs, so I can't imagine it would be a problem.

Parking sensor price sounds about right however it depends what you're fitting. An aftermarket kit will be cheaper than getting the painted VW sensors and OPS kit.

DSG 'box is excellent but make sure its had oil changes every 40k miles otherwise be wary and budget to do it immediately.

Retro fitting LED rear lights requires some coding to avoid getting the bulb out warning message. Coding can be a bit hit and miss as cars have different BCMs so are configured differently. Someone that knows what they are doing with VCDS ought to be able to sort it out.

£170 for parking sensors sounds like they will be the VW accessory ones. They don't fit flush like the factory ones, so can look a bit cheap and nasty to those in the know.

For the bulb out error on the dash you'll need loads of holy water to throw at it!!! no to be honest someone will have done something which is easily sorted with the correct coding.

Mine will be for sale in February if your interested.Its a pampered 2011,DSG,white,5 door Gti,winter pack,led front fairy light DRL's with xenon's, rear LED's.It has dynamic chassis control,sat Nav,Tarten interior,unmarked 18"monza shadows with new Goodyear tyres fitted.It has Bluetooth telephone prep,full VWSH and for peace of mind a VW warranty till 23rd March.At present it has done 21200 miles.
I am asking 15.5k.
Like I say it will be going in February as new car arriving 1st march,it really is in top condition no dents,scratches,stone chips or wheel damage.

Sounds like the lights wouldn't be an issue and will make sure I get the proper sensors should i fell the need. Waiting for the dealer to come back to me regarding the gearbox oil. Thanks for that heads up!
AndyG, is it the DCC that allows you to switch between comfort/sport suspension setups? Sounds like a contender.

The lights still worked fine, it was just an annoyance.
Later cars than this should be easily coded out with VCDS

Your correct,you can choose comfort,normal or sport.It sharpens or relaxes the suspension and steering.

It is a 59 reg car. If I can't get the light to go out there's always electric tape!

Not the greatest description but has got DCC, which isn't mentioned. Zero parking aids tho...not that I need any of course! 
Went for a spin on Friday and was properly impressed. 1st GTi I've driven and very, very pleasantly surprised. Because comparisons have all said how tame it is compared to the RS Megane and Focus ST I was expecting something quite tame. What these reviews don't say is how much better it is compared to standard cars. Lovely exhaust note, addictive bark changing down gears, and just a nice place to be sat. It's sealed the deal so now it's just a case of finding the right one.
Anyone in the market for a 4WD V6 Brera?!

Sounds like you're smitten, hope the right one comes along soon 

Not to put you off or anything but there is the timing chain tensioner issue to be aware of which mainly affects some earlier plate gtis.  But to be fully informed read the thread at the top of the mk6 section.  Later cars have the revised tensioner fitted so time will tell how that fares.
