LED rears won't physically fit my car!

Hi,

Bit of a weird one this. I ordered led tail lamps from xenonz, tried to fit today however I've got this problem:





I've seen many guides and videos of people fitting aftermarket tail lamps to their golf however none of those had this bracket / fin that I have.

Anyone else encounter this?
I have a 59plate  golf gti.

Have you been sent cabrio lights by mistake?

I don't think that's an issue as the videos on YouTube are hatches like mine.
I'll ask the supplier though, thanks.

Supplier doesn't make cabrio versions.

Might have to take an angle grinder to it as a worse case scenario, but I'd rather not.

Mine looks like yours after someone has already taken an angle grinder to it

I have a 2009 gti and have upgraded to led lights, mine does not have that extra bit of metal that yours seems to have! Might have to get it removed, can't see the point in them.

Mine wasn't cut, that's the way it came from the factory.

So do all 59 Plate GTi's have this? Or is this a one off?

This was the next mod I was going to do, but looks like I may have to cut bits off my car!!
