Morning Mis-Fire - is boggling me
« on: 06 January 2015, 15:34 »
The last two mornings the Golf has started up fine and ticking over perfectly, I start my journey and with-in a couple of minutes the engine management lights starts to flash and the car is mis firing, after about 15 -30 seconds of this, the car then drives perfectly normal/ no mis firing/ no power loss/ nothing perfectly normal for the rest of the day....what the hell is going on??? ive had the car for 1.5 years and the one thing i haven't done yet is change the spark plugs, could this be the problem or just a glitch passing through due to cold weather etc ....any thoughts guys?

Thanks

Smithy

Coil pack starting to break down? As has been said, without plugging it in, it's pointless playing the guessing game tbh.

Right got the codes:

16684 – Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected

16687 - Cylinder 3 Misfire Detected

am I right in thinking that a spark plugs change would be a good idea and quiet possibly be the cause?

thanks Guys

yeah try that first, then if the code comes back swap the coil pack 3 with 1 and see if the misfire moves cylinder, if it does it is the pack on its way out... check your local vw garage for any recalls on your car

2000 GTI 1.8t ARZ, S2000 filter, DSG intake, Forge 007 dv, Catch can, R-tech custom remap, 3" Supersize Silicone TIP, Powerflex dog bone, 'The Beast' FMIC, Ultimate delete, LCR fuel pump, 3" Turbo back, K03 hybrid, Ported Manifold, S3 injectors, 80mm maf = 280bhp 270lbft
