Collecting GTI from Dealer

I'd guessed it must be something along those lines, the same for most buyers with relatively high value newish cars.
All part of the fun but a lot of legwork thrashing out deals.
Broadspeed used to advertise proper part ex facilities, do they compare?

I'd forgotten about Broadspeed.  Just done a quote, £336 dearer than DTD and £800 more than OW (includes their £199 fee if you buy).  They do px though.

Those that on paper offer the best discount will likely offer the worst part ex prices but it's still down how much less they offer you and all the cost to change figures.

So yes, with work life, home life and general time constraints it's going to be time consuming getting the best prices. Offer monkeyhanger a Mars Bar to sniff out the deals for you when he's got his calculator to hand!!!

Yep, great discount = crap px.  Cost to change is the key.

I generally find that around the costs of a high end Golf/Scirocco that the dealer looks to make at least £4k between the 2 cars (if you've got something comparable in p/x). If you're getting 12% off a GTI/GTD/R then there's only a grand in it for them (more if they've smashed their volume bonuses and customer satisfaction bonuses), which isn't enough unless they're selling in volume (Broker) or expecting to make £3k off your p/x. If you have no p/x then go broker, if you do then your local dealer should be able to provide the same cost to change as they'll likely give you less discount on the new one, but more on the p/x than a broker dealership.

I'm getting £18500 for my 18month old (it will be in March) GTD because i'm getting a £3600 discount on the R, it'll be on the forecourt for £22500 or thereabouts, and expecting to knock a grand off to a haggler, it'd be up for a grand more than that prior to the 15 plate change. I'll chance my arm trying to sell privately for £21k at the end of Jan, willing to accept £20500 for the inconvenience of having to use the Metro and Taxis for a month. It may not sell - it's a lot of money to a private buyer that isn't buying from a dealership.

You obviously don't know my local dealer.  "Crap discount, Crap p/x, guaranteed" is their unofficial motto 

Your figures are much as I was factoring.  I will most likely p/x my mk6, can't be without a car at all as needed daily for work site visits, school run etc.  Will be talking to a few broker dealers next week, so see who comes closest to my acceptable figure with the combined new car discount/current car p/x.

Booth11: If I were you, i'd trying to get more off the new one and have a bankable low p/x as a back-up plan. Try to get the car sold for a few £k over p/x a month before the new one arrives and do a cheap month's rental and still be £1500 up. That's the plan for me, there are swings and roundabouts between our 2 situations - I have 18 months warranty and a few unused services to entice people to make a saving vs going to the dealerships (it's new enough for few or no MK7 GTDs to be available outside the dealership network).

On the other hand, it's a lot of money for people to spend without a dealership. Yours should be more accessible (private loan or cash) to a lot more people.

Low/reasonable p/x price I generally take to be 80% of sticker price on the used forecourt - what are MK6 examples with some expensive options going for at your local dealership's forecourt?

Selling privately is such a ball-ache (so many tyre kickers), so i'll give it a whirl, but won't be investing too much of my own money into it - advertising at the forums and Pistonheads, pay a tenner to ebay too.

I will not even bother to try to sell privately again (after the least experience). These cars are just too expensive for private buyers to shell out for without the dealer comfort/support/financing.

My current GTD will be sold to the dealer that makes the best bid on it - may run a cheap rental car for a few weeks/month before the next car arrives. That will come via 'Drive the Deal' as did the current one.

MH - Not all dealers are looking to make 4k per transaction. If they know they can shift your car for 22k straight away they will give you 20k for it - thats when having the correct spec/colour/options really counts as such cars are close to being bankable currency....

Picked up my white gti pp today drove it back from Gillingham to Cornwall . It rained most the way but loved every minute , drive great, delighted

On a fairly well specced R:

DTD @ 10.5%.  This includes £750 you need to add on if not taking out a PCP deal (I'm cash buyer).  With the extra £750 discount it would be 12.5%.  Mind you the price differs every day!!

I was led to believe from the Audi forum that if you took advantage of their contribution i.e. the £750 on a PCP, as long as you paid it off with cash in x amount of days you then paid no interest and still get the advantage of the £750 contribution.
