Collecting GTI from Dealer

My GTI PP is at the dealers waiting its PDI. I hope to collect next week. As the dealer is 300 miles away I wanted to know if there is anything I should be issued with and check before I leave. As i Have had 12% discount I dont think the dealer is going to be giving much away

JCB Medway kent I take it

Ask for the first aid kit/warning triangle (gave it to me without asking) and a bottle of oil (gave me with no probs).
Also raid their fridge for drinks for the way home! (Dealer actually gave me an armful of drinks without asking knowing I had a 600 mile drive home).
Nothing like champers or flowers but would rather the discount!

My car was parked at the front door no showroom/car under the cover for me

Sent on my way but scrounged a set of rubber mats for the winter and a GTi mug.

Yes it is JCB Medway, just spoken to the salesman James who says, no First aid kit & triangle an no oil, Asked about rubber mats but have to pay full price. He says they dont give anything away at their dealership due to the discount. Oh well cant be greedy

Its easier to say no on the phone  than eye to eye! or maybe Peter D is just very persuasive....

The main thing (apart from ensuring its actually the car you ordered) is to make sure they removed the transport pucks from the suspension....

I did not want to sound like a spoilt child ( well thinking about it.... I might of anyway) by saying other people were given stuff, why not me .

 I will not get to the dealer until about 4pm so need some light to inspect the car. I will ask them to put my "discounted" car in the posh seats inside the dealership; a reasonable request ?

They do not have an inside handover area as far as I could see. Showroom only holds about 8 cars (closely)

That is where mine came from and it was also just parked in the car park  But for that discount it could be sitting with the wrappers on for all I cared. 
I doubt they would move a car out the showroom to put that in but worth a try.
To the OP I'd stay overnight in London and then travel through in the morning so its light. I certainly wouldn't pick a car up in the dark 300 miles away from home.

I quite agree . Just looking now to see if I can change my plans (need to get Sunday off work) and stay overnight sunday as have family near Reading. Can then get the train in and pick up Monday morning/lunch.
