Looks like a good deal. If you have a look at Golf R forum.co.uk there are other good deals on there.

I'd just wait and buy one outright at 2 years old, for about 50p!! my brother might be ordering a GTD next weekend, might see what deal they'll do if i order a GTI as well? Ya know.... Just to be a bit different!!

Yeah but the mk6 R are few and far between which is what holds the values up, the mk7 R is going to be way too common for that, these lease deals are going to flood the market with them in a couple of years, i still to this day rarely see a mk6 but i see at least 2-3 mk7's a week, your right the world has gone mad!

Plentiful supply is fine if the demand is there. GFV for a GTI is as low as VW will want it - low depreciation is a major factor for many to buy a VW over the competition (seeing as they're pretty average on the reliability front these days). The R should always command significantly more money than the GTI, being 80PS up, better brakes (same as PP), 4WD - people will pay extra for that. The GTI is better on the juice, not so much so that buying an R over a GTI will really punish you at the pumps.

It's easy to see these lease deals and imagine thousands of them being made as a result, rather than hundreds. Spread them out between all the VW dealers in the country and it's not quite so dramatic as it first seems. While VW are making people wait 6 months for an R/GTD/GTI, the used market will always be healthy, fuelling the demand for those who can't be arsed to wait 6 months for one, or maybe their finances won't quite stretch to a new one.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

You're probably right but it does annoy me that there are so many around compared to the 6 and thats just what i've seen with my own eyes. Just makes ownership a little less special imo.

I haven't seen many yet, but maybe that's because they don't stand out if you're not specifically looking out for the tailpipes, Cadiz wheels or Lapiz blue. Tons of GTIs and GTDs around Newcastle and North Tyneside, not so many Rs (that i've seen). The glowing reviews will have plenty who are not VW fanboys looking to get one, new or used. In 10 years time, early MK7 Rs might become the Charva car of choice (like old Scoobys are right now), but we've got a while yet.

You mean those who own an R have nothing to fear in the used market. I recently recall reading something saying that us GTI owners are fecked however
