I've looked at this out of curiosity, But long story short the answer is no if you want to do it properly.
And yes you will prob get a lot of people saying if you want it to sound like a scubby then buy one.
I'm not a mechanic but from what I've read I've worked out that basically the engine works out how much air is inside going to to the engine via MAF sensor and works out how much fuel to put in according to this.
If you have an open dump value that air is no longer in the system but the engine still thinks it is, so the air intake will let more air in to fill this missing air the MAF will think there is more air then there actually is causing you to get the wrong air/fuel mixture.
As I said that's only from what I've been ready, might be corrected a bit by more experienced people, as far as new DV go, you can buy uprated one, but if you wanna hear the turbo get a decent open cone induction kit
