2.0 8v AGG colour concept speedometer fault??
« on: 21 September 2014, 21:44 »
Hi, im a new member to the site but ive been I reading a while...lol  I have a few annoying issues that I could use some help/advise with - firstly: the Speedometer (need I say more...lol) doesn't work, fuel gauge up and down randomly but the temp gauge is fine, the MFA only displays times, oil temp and outside temp !     I've checked all earths, all connections and changed the whole unit for one that definitely works,     any ideas??   pls...

I'd go with faulty wiring, faulty central electrics or faulty GND.

Can't see anything wrong with wiring, do you have an idea what GND would cause this fault??  Also is there a separate speed sensor, I've always thought the crank sensor was also the speed sensor.. Thanks in advance

How would the crank sensor also be a speed sensor. The speed of the crank would change every time you changed gear ?.

does the fuel gauge also go wanky if you disconnect the sender unit in the fuel tank?

if yes then it's an electronic issue in the clocks i'd think.

if not then you have two separate issues; wonky fuel level sender unit and a faulty speed sender (which sits in gear box).
