Krytox - Anyone have any spare or for sale?
« on: 11 September 2014, 11:50 »
Im still suffering from a creaky rear end on my MK6 when going over midly uneven surface and its driving me made now.

Im still not 100% if its the seal on the bootlid or not, its really hard to tell. So im looking to buy some Krytox to test.

I dont really want to pay £36 if its not the problem. Does anyone have any spare or half bottle i can buy?

Leave a reply or PM if you have any.

Thanks

I used to get the creaking really bad on my mk6, it was the felt seals along the tops of the doors with mine, the best thing i found was to wax the door openings where the seals meet the body, it'd stop the creaking completely for about 5-6 weeks before it'd need doing again. :afro:

Use some dash board cleaner/polish, Krytox is over the top for squeeking rubbers.
Just dont paste it on with a spatula, wax on wax off

I use clear silicone mould release that I borrow from work :lipsrsealed:

Squeeky top mounts is common, you can spray a bit of wd around the rubber from inside if you can get to the covers, not sure how the trim covers the rear shocks in a Mk6...
WD is not great but it will stop it squeeking if its that for long enough to tell.

Creaking welds is another storu though lol

from inside? Do you mean up the wheel arch on to the mount. As you cant see the mounts from inside the car. I have had nearly the whole interior out

There is normally access from in the boot under a plastic cover or trim to get to the top nut on the mount.
Probably under loads of plastic and carpet or the shelf support brackets.....
