Yeah they are but for the cost of an R engine you could go Stage 3 with Hybrid Turbo! It would even be more cost effective to simply chop in the GTI and change to the R if that's the route you had in mind even! Much less of a headache and you get a fully operational haldex system :)

The issue is that when it finally goes to full track/race spec the 4wd system is banned from racing. So thinking about the future it had to be the GTI. That and the fact the GTI is so much lighter so there is more of a gain to be found there than having a 4wd system anyway

Fair enough! I personally wouldn't bother with the transplant and just wait for the hardware to come out for the GTI. Would be money better spent to be honest. There aren't huge differences in the R engine as it has the same block as the GTI the EA888 Gen 3.

My upgrade path is > Revo Stage 1 (Already Installed), APR Carbon Fibre Intake, APR Intercooler, VWR 6 Pot Big Brake Setup, VWR Sport Springs, Milltek Full Turbo Back Exhaust Non-Resonated and that will set me up for going Stage 2 and for a bigger turbo once APR release it.

Will be interesting if you get some dyno pulls and graphs so we can compare our changes in manufacturers.  :cool:
Current - MK7 Golf GTI - Tornado Red, 5 Door, DSG, Performance Pack, Dynamic Chasis Control, Panoramic Sunroof, Discover Navigation, Dynaudio.

On Order - MK7 Golf R - Pearlescent Black, 3 Door, DSG, Vienna Leather, Discover Nav Pro, Rear View Camera, High Beam Assist, Keyless Entry, Dynaudio (Tech Pack)

All gone.

Now;

MK7 Golf R - Lapiz Blue, 5 Door, DSG, Carbon Nappa, Discover Nav Pro.

The extra 100bhp as standard makes quite a bit of difference. You would be surprised at how much more pull they have in a GTI. We will see anyway. There are a few things I'm thinking of!

The GTI looks crackin mate! :cool: but there is no way i'd drop an R lump in it unless it was 5+ years old, you'll be making your nice new (valuable) car be worth about 20p.
Currently pootling around in our family wagen, a Tiguan SEL 😂

Well 500 miles have been done and went to my local Dyno today. Never used them before and thought I would give them a go! Well all I can say is that I was disappointed by the results! The operators didn't know how to run a dsg car on their Dyno and said they would try their best. Not happy but after being booked in and wanted the free instal of my intake I just went for it!
Anyway, their Dyno showed the car at 202bhp standard, 213bhp with the Revo air intake. Not bad I thought! 11bhp upgrade will do me!
On to good news! Revo stage 1 map tomorrow and go and pick up my newly refinished Oz Alleggerita wheels in high gloss black! Anyway here are some pics! I will be going somewhere else to get my Dyno results from now on! On the upside, the noise from the turbo now the intake has been installed sounds great!
