I know i have pretty stiff roll bars on and the chassis is very stiff , but the back end when driving on uneven roads is really creaky, starting to really do my head in.

I have had a play around in the back seats and boot and nothing seems to move or creak when pushing or pulling the parts.

Can anyone point me in the right direction or where to check next. Do the rear shock top mount ever creak as i havent checked there? It kind of sounds like its coming from C pilars or where the rear seat joins.

Thanks

Mines just standard set up and it's creaking from the rear when i go over the sleeping policemen in my road. cleared when we had rain. Things are as dry as a stick! when i drove the car in the wet, no noise!

Rear hatch creaks like mad on its rubber and rubber stops. The catch on the hatch comes loose causing it to creak even more.

Read a while back someone added bracing in the rear, a unibrace product which stiffened things up and reduced creaking but only on diagonal slops etc, could be worth looking into? stupidly expensive though...

I also have horrible creaking from the back, thought maybe my bushings were gone? (70k after all) someone also said the 3dr cars creak more? my mk5 doesn't creek at all and is 5dr (with 160k) but the gtd is 3dr and creeks, drives me nuts when there's no music on.

Definitely sounds like the rear ARB bushes, my ed30 H&R rear bar bushes creaked like a haunted house!

30mins and some grease shuts them up for a bit

Also on the mk6 the door seals can be very noisy, a coat of wax within the door shut where the felt seal touches the body is a good short term fix but VW Krytox lubricant keeps them silent for ages!

It defo not the ARB bushes, its inside the car. I have removed the rear seats and a few interior plastic bits and its still doing it.

I had a mate in the back trying to listen where it was coming from but he couldnt pin point it.

I think Snoopy's idea could be worth a try, I will try the bootlid seals. Its not the door seals as its only a 3 door and it coming from the back....... :undecided:

Tried adjusting the boot stops, put it to max height and lowest height, still the same.

The noise doesnt happen when boot is fully open, so something is creaking when boot lid is shut.
