Golf R - Remapped

Went into my dealers today to get my car serviced and get my red badges fitted, and they have a black Golf R which has been remapped to 380 bhp  - 2 grand remap by VW (I forget the name of the company but its VW approved so that the warranty stays intact).

Anyway, I'm just off for a test drive.  I will report back.  Have to say, I'm pretty excited to have a blast in an R with that much power

How did you come about blagging a test drive, I brought my gti from them, so they might let me have a go.

I've bought a few cars from there and I always ask about the R whenever I'm in there, so they know I'm interested! Also the finance manager is a decent bloke

380bhp is a big no. for a remap alone. It will outgun my neighbour's A45 AMG!

Do you mean dealer approved rather than vw approved.

If that remap is vw approved, even if it cost 2k I will still go for it if it DOES NOT VOID my warranty!

It's the dealers R demonstrator, so I assume that means it's VW approved as it came from them. I can't remember the name of the company that remapped it (sorry!) but the manager told me it was VW approved and therefore doesn't affect the warranty in any way. It will be available to buy after they've had it 90 days he said. He also said the fuel consumption is better with the remap.

After my test drive he was telling me he had an M3 having a go the other day, and he said he p1ssed all over it and the M3 couldn't keep up 

He also said they reckon it does 0-60 in under 4 seconds easily!

Interesting a dealer is claiming a warranty friendly remap is available....id be interested what it is as well..? Gut feeling would be some sort of plug in unit this dealer is happy to recommend and remove prior to any OBD connection.
