When I had my TT I asked the Audi dealer about a remap for the car and the warranty implications. They actually had an MTM tuning guy working alongside them and were offering remaps without affecting the warranty.

380bhp is a big no. for a remap alone. It will outgun my neighbour's A45 AMG!

Do you mean dealer approved rather than vw approved.

If that remap is vw approved, even if it cost 2k I will still go for it if it DOES NOT VOID my warranty!

Is it ABT?

It's the dealers R demonstrator, so I assume that means it's VW approved as it came from them. I can't remember the name of the company that remapped it (sorry!) but the manager told me it was VW approved and therefore doesn't affect the warranty in any way. It will be available to buy after they've had it 90 days he said. He also said the fuel consumption is better with the remap.

After my test drive he was telling me he had an M3 having a go the other day, and he said he p1ssed all over it and the M3 couldn't keep up

He also said they reckon it does 0-60 in under 4 seconds easily!

Thanks for your quick reply! If A vw dealer happy to remap my car, I will be more than happy to pay the extra dosh. It will be better if they also offer an exhaust and filter upgrade!
I can never understand why VW do not offer exhaust or power upgrade officially like Ford, Bm or Porsche. There seems to be enough power hungry lunatic out there who is never satisfy with their car even they got the top of the range model. Rather than letting  tuners pocket our cash, why don't they do it themselves. I find more people here who don't mind sacrificing their warranty to remap their GTD, GTI or R than any other car forum which I hang around! I think the majority of GTI or R owners here will be happy to stump up another grand for a 80 bhp increase!

Yes, especially as it turns a super quick car into an absolute monster.  I have to say I was blown away, and I really didn't nail it anywhere near what I would have done if it was my own car as the salesman who came out with me (not the manager) was clearly starting to sweat a bit

Never heard of this from a dealer, if it's right, make sure you get something in writing to cover the warranty.  safe than sorry.

Richter who are UK ABT importers used to be part of a group Jardine took over, not sure Richter were part of that deal

Sounds like ABT tuning box, 380 from stage one sounds like typical salesman BS given ABT only quote 360

If its ABT......its going to be £2000....I made some calls when I spotted they were available for the GTI
They offer their own warranty which is were a lot of the cost comes from. Its a case of void the VW cover and use ABT's warranty.

It's likely that VAG don't offer an official map because they try hard to balance power with economy and remaining compliant with the latest Euro emissions as well as having an official CO2 output figure for taxation reasons. Aftermarket options will always be available, but if VAG officially alter the output, that creates all kinds of taxation implications as well as possibly not meeting Euro 6 compliance. Apart from that, who'd buy an R if you could remap a GTI officially for significantly less than the difference? Same with buying a TTRS over a TTS etc.

2/3 of your £2k is probably going on that drive train warranty.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....
