Traction control warning light??
« on: 06 July 2014, 19:28 »
So I've just come back from holiday after a week, the car has been sitting idle for the week so decided to start it up and get it to temp to make sure it is okay.

As I turned it on I touched the brake pedal and the light below came on

The front brake discs and pads are new, the rears are all good and the fluid is at the correct level.

I have tried to look on here, MK4 forum and golf GTi forum and cant seem to find what it means.

Any help??

Cheers

Mike

Although I'm reasonably handy with a spanner is this a simple job to do as I don't want to break the bank at a garage but if its not too much then ill probably just get them to do it.

Might be the brake sensor switch that's what happens with mine! As others have said scan it first as the traction light means many diff things

Have you taken it for a good drive and see if they go out ?

Ive taken it on a long run and it didn't go off, I turned the engine off and back on again and it went off but now its always on.

When I first start the car it doesn't come on until I brake for the first time.
