just bought a EPMAN RACING PARTS DUMP VALVE
« on: 26 June 2014, 22:21 »
as tittle says i just bought a epman racing parts dump valve and its brand new in box but doesnt come with no instructions as to what spring i should put in it ?
ive read posts about certain springs for standard/mapped etc on the forge 007/008 and was wondering if it would be the same with this one

ive notlong since bought the car and was told it has been mapped but im not sure what to or what map they did or if its actually been mapped (defo feels like it has )

so does anyone know these dumpvalve and know what spring i should fit it with ?
im new to modding the turbos so any advice would help a lot
thanks in advance
gav

Could always try the ones you have, if you get turbo chatter use a weaker one and if you loose boost use a stronger one

2000 GTI 1.8t ARZ, S2000 filter, DSG intake, Forge 007 dv, Catch can, R-tech custom remap, 3" Supersize Silicone TIP, Powerflex dog bone, 'The Beast' FMIC, Ultimate delete, LCR fuel pump, 3" Turbo back, K03 hybrid, Ported Manifold, S3 injectors, 80mm maf = 280bhp 270lbft

My advice, ditch the dump valve in favour of a recirculating one like you're supposed to have.

well after fitting the valve i went to change spring and noticed that one of the rubber seals had snapped so wasnt best happy with the epman one so put the standard one back on

also the turbo sounds weird and i dont think its boosting like it did before and also seems to be a weird sound
i had to change the pipe what gos off the top of the valve due to it splitting when i tried putting it on the the valve could it be this pipe whats making that happen? the pipe i used was a braided pipe but it didnt seem as tough rubber as the standard one
also whats this pipe called as im wanting to replace it with a silicone one ?
any advice will help me lots
thanks in advance

if it was making a weird noise, was it like a chirp? if it is the DV is the wrong way round.

I personally have only used Forge on mine, but as the others have said they are overpriced 'scene tax' have a look in the classifieds as there are always some in there.
ARZ K03s, Oettinger Side Skirts, R32 front, Carbon stage 2, Forge 007p (yellow spring), Forge Actuator (yellow spring), Pipercross panel filter with DSG parts, N249 and N112 deleted, SAI deleted, Carbon canister deleted, Rear wiper deleted, Long Life turbo back custom exhaust with 200 cell sports cat, VR6/G60 clutch kit, Creation Motorsport TIP, Catch can, 'Wellycooler', K04 charge pipe, S3 ported inlet manifold - looks pretty standard on the outside though :)

thanks for the reply
i put the old DV back on and same way as it was before and its still making the same noise i was thinking as i have changed the pipe that goes on the top nipple of the DV it could of been that what was making it do it maybe the rubber inside is to weak or ive put a to longer pipe on?
im not sure if that pipe is a breather vacum or what it is
im wanting to renew that pipe for a silicone one to see if that makes a difference but im not sure what the pipes called so not sure what to look for
at the moment im trying to do what i can at a tight budget since i recently lost my farther and had to take a month out of work to sort his house etc as it was unexpected so till i can catch up on the jobs and get the money in was just trying to so things i wanted to as a sorta temp thing i am going to gt the forge eventually but working self employed and the time off ive had to have just couldnt afford one then
so now im just gunna trty get the car sounding as it should till i can afford everything else

hoping to do the car up over time for shows etc as its my little project tho its the first golf turbo/mk4 ive owned i always had the mk2s before this so any advice people can give me would be appreciated

thanks in advance
