Dashboard warning...orange coil?!
« on: 22 June 2014, 12:04 »
HAs anyone else experienced this. I have a DTUK box fitted, never had any issues over the last 4 months or so. Gave it a good rag from 1st to 3rd then all of a sudden this appears on the dash and the power just totally goes. Like really goes!!! I was in 5th, thought id drop to 4th, still hardly any acceleration. Googled it and it appears to be a glow plug light issue? Is this due to me ragging it or an issue with the car or both? I restarted the car and all appears well. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Spoke to the VW and ive to call the servicing department tomorrow.  Il have to take of the dtuk box just incase they say ive invalidated the warranty. Was unreal how limp it was. Had a few issues with the car. Chances of getting an R just in case it has to go in for a service? Ha I wish. An UP like monkeyhanger im sure

Yeah basically limp mode shuts down the turbo so you effectively end up with a normally aspirated engine but worse as it reduces power right across the board too

Stops it from going bang though

Did you manager to red line it? It's probably protection to stop you popping the engine. The problem is though you're going to remove the dtuk box so you won't know if that's been the issue. Did you blast from 1st to third from cold?

Had been driving ten or fifteen mins, so oil temp was up at the usual 90. I did hoof it off the line from 1st to 3rd as some p*enis in a CC was trying to beat me off the line, but to the usual 4,200 rpm. I humped him but rather embarrassingly he overtook me up a hill when the car literally died. I mean no power at all, id have been better getting out and pushing. Ive been driving conservatively since as im worried itl happen again

Well he was up my arse trying to get me to move in to the slow lane when I was behind a car both sitting above the speed limit. Why sit up someone's arse if there is no where for you to go. You trying to tell me you've never done that before? I seriously doubt it
