First wash and found this defect!!

First wash today after having the car exactly a week and found this.

Looks like a big paint blister that stretches halfway along the sill. Not impressed at all. Given that the supplying dealer is over 400 miles away, I can just see this being a complete nightmare.

I never even noticed it when washing the car, it wasn't until I was doing the wheels for a second time and noticed the sill strip wasn't actually flush with the sill as in the second picture









The other side is fine

You don't need to take it back to the supplying dealer. Any VW dealer can do warranty work.

Just checked mine and it's the same, although not quite as bad - I'm in Cyprus lol!!

Yeah I thought possibly transport danage. I can't imagine that getting through a quality check.
I realise it will be a warranty issue so therefore can go anywhere but if it was caused by transport then surely that should have been picked up at pdi and the supplying dealer is responsible?

You used to drive a transporter didn't you charlie?  Is transporter damage a frequent occurrence?

The lower sills aren't finished to the same level as the rest of the car. They all have dimples and marks to some extent but I haven't seen it as obvious as that before.

Its like wallpaper that's been put up badly with a massive air bubble although its solid to the touch.

I would imagine it will be an easy repair although I don't know how they'll get the consistency of the dimples unless they put a new sill on?!

But having your brand new car painted is never a good feeling.

its a hard one to answer Rebecca you get some drivers that give a s!!t and some don't,  cars are getting bigger and transporters aren't all I suggest and I don't want to come over as trying to teach people to suck eggs but when checking your new car check it thoroughly roof body line both sides alloys sills and the underneath of the front bumper.  I've checked cars that have been through pdi and there has been damage on them people miss things that you wouldn't believe

I think the lower sill area is painted with a think layer of underseal type stuff that stays semi soft and then gets painted over. It looks like the robot had a field day and sprayed it with a thicker lump, you would of thought the sill strip being fitted someone would have picked it up. But then again maybe it has been fixed by the dealer or somewhere else.
