I'd go with a wee bit of glue remover first no point in ruining a clay bar over the paint if its not needed.

Good point mate, I thought that after I'd written it    Tar remover first then and clay only if needed is the way forward.

don't just go straight into hand polishing either as you could make it worse. Where are you based as I could run the DA over the bonnet for you, i'm in Burton on Trent.

Ive got some tar remover which I will try over the weekend.

I'm based in Kidderminster, but I'm going to GTI International in a few weeks, the previous owner wants to check I am still looking after her as well as he did.

This isnt a go just a bit lost but why would hand polishing make it worse?  Would there not be more risk of making it worse by running a hot pad @ whatever high RPM over it?

Tar remover might not work as ive found only some will take off glue.

IMO hand polishing gives a focused and varied application which can, with some tasks be detrimental I.e ,y bro had bird lime in his bonnet, soaked it so it wasn't hard and then polished it with srp, made it worse. One cycle over with the DA, job done.

Just my two pennaths worth.

Ive got the week off now, so its booked into Midlands Car Care for a machine polish, took it in to VW and they weren't interested as its out of the "paint imperfection" warranty so took it to these guys and they saw it straight away without me pointing it out to them.

They said its overspray but can be sorted. So once thats sorted and looking good its going to be alloy refurbs and then get the whole car done to get rid of all the little swirls.

The bonnet is costing me £50.

Anyone in the WM know of anywhere that does a good job of refurbing the Monza shadows?
