Horrible noise after heavy braking
« on: 09 June 2014, 10:05 »
When I brake hard from 100+ it sounds like my driveshafts are falling off. Really horrible noises. This only happens after heavy braking though. The noise goes away after 30 seconds of non-braking. The Wheels are hot to touch afterwards

I'm running a 312mm setup with pagid pads and drilled discs. Not sure on disc brand sorry.

I'm thinking perhaps I need some more race pads like green stuff?

Sounds like binding calipers.

Or the abs ring expanding with the heat and contacting something.

It is a graunch or a rattle?

Don't do 100+ :lipsrsealed:

Have you got plenty of meat left on your pads?

My MK4 did this when I first had it. Stripped caliper wire wheeled piston and it got it going for a while. Inevitably it now is sticking again but I couldn't care less as want new ones anyway.

Bet the caliper is seized.

Where all my moneys went.

pads have loads left on them. checked that last night.

ABS wheel sounds possible. I'll expect the sensor to go down shortly if it's rubbing on that.

It literally sounds like the driveshaft is about to fall off. It's speed related.

Check the driveshaft then!

Mine did sound like it and shook the car and then slowly released. Just corrosion on the caliper piston.
