Nice simple punchy system for a mk2?

Hi, am after a fairly simple system haveing just sold my rather large one!! Was just wondering what I should be going for on quite a modest budget? I like a bit of bass, its good to feel the car rumble every now and then, but I mainly listen to alternative rock, so not much of the ground shaking bass going on!! Also listen to a bit of dance music every now and then, so bass needs to be able to keep up with that.

I was thinking either one or two 10" subs, mounted on either side of the boot (next to the wheel arch) with the amps hidden away out of sight, so that I still have my boot (which was the biggest problem with my last install!!).

So then, does this sound like what I want? And what brand of speakers should I be looking at? Have always used vibe in the past which I've liked, but was wondering if theres anything else out there thats better that I can still afford!!!

im running a single 12'' sub in a sealed box. It can make ur nose itch on the right settings. It doesnt take alot of room in the boot either

its a 12'' JBL 1000W one. you can pick up a jbl sub/amp package on the cheap from caraudiosecurity.com

Thats a good link that. The 12" JBL crunch package looks a bargain, 1000w sub with 500w amp, boxed with a wiring kit!!

May have to go for that!! Is it nice and tight? Really do want a good punchy base at times, and thought I'd have to go for 10's for that?

i prefer 12''s as they all great for all types of music. you can always adjust the setting on the amp/headunit to make it punchy or soft

go for a 10in mate...and look out for a brand called rainbow for spkers and sub and genesis amp

Think im gonna get a Vibe 10" ampified box. They sound awesome and take up no space, its even small enough to put into my Minis boot!!

Was also just looking at this pack, can anyone tell me which of the 2 JBL packs is best value, am having trouble comparing the two!!

10" subs are a bit more punchy.

If I were you instead of looking at all these expensive car audio companies and invest in a M*x power magazine!
Yes i did say that - here's why!
In those kind of mags you will find companies that sell top equipment for far less than what you are looking at!

On the Kenwood system i have in the 405 I saved over £150 that way!
On the Golf Sony stuff I saved about £100
