Wanting to service my 2001.golf 1.8t gti myself for the 1st time, how hard can it be...what gear will I need?  I haven't got a Danny laroo,any help is much appreciated,

get a haynes and work through the list....

if you haven't done car servicing before get a mate to give you a hand, most stuff isn't too tricky to work out but helps if you have someone who knows a few tricks and saves you busting your knuckles...

Need an oil pan, standard tools and a trolley jack and a service kit obviously

Easy as piss :) must be a guide online or if not get a Haynes manual

Good call by Clancy. Trolly jack and/or axle stands.

Do not trust the standard jack if you are working under the car. It is unstable and not to be trusted for a second on level solid ground. Let alone any ground that is not solid or level.
