Plenty of people running TTRS set up on mk5/6 so what is the concern other than wheel clearance, that said TTRS used to have 18s as standard, only issue is your rears may be a bit weedy

S3 set up is a popular mod

My AP 4 pots were awesome but not cheap on the consumables but did wipe off speed

I just got some sh!te info earlier off the net touch wood then as i say can't can't test fit at the mo any idea where i can get 370mm discs bar audi? Struggling to find them :-/

The TTS disks have better cooling and less unswept area, my 7R has the same disc size and more than adequate for general use

I'm not convinced its an "upgrade" swapping single pot for single pot
The S3 setup is a very noticeable upgrade from the stock gti/gtd system...
Yes they may still be single piston sliding calipers but it's a big piston (51mm) acting on a much larger disc (345mm versus 312mm),
With a 4 pot system you are buying lightness, endurance and 'feel' over a basic OE single piston system, even with £2k worth of AP 4 pots you are still moving the same amount of fluid via the master cylinder, you just get more of a progressive 'feel' due to the staggered way in which the smaller and larger pistons operate
The S3 setup is very capable especially when running uprated pads and the weight can be offset by using 340mm TTs discs..

I'm just a tad confused when you intially said 345 then 340 at the end will this not put the caliper out 5mm? Pity they don't look as awesome as the 4 pots :-(

The 345mm disc fitted as standard leaves a lip on the edge of the disc when worn (2mm ish), the TTs disc doesn't have this lip as the pad runs right to the edge (the TTs disc at 340mm is only 2.5mm smaller where the caliper position is concerned - radius not diameter is the key factor)
The TTs disc as Andy says also benefits from having much better cooling vanes and is over 1kg lighter than the 345mm version

If you are doing the upgrade for mostly cosmetic reasons then stick with the TTrs setup you have..

I know a lot of people on Golfmk6.com run TTRS brakes on the GTI. If you're worried about fitment, have you looked at the VWR BBK's? I considered one, just I'm currently unemployed

Nothing wrong with that at all mate

I'm just from the 'less show more go' camp lol!

You can get brackets for the TTrs calipers that allows the use of the much cheaper 345mm disc, the OE 370mm disc is not only hugely expensive but pretty poor tbh, the 345s can be had for under £90 a pair!

YES! Useful info brilliant! Nice one mate any idea where to get brackets? Ebay i guess? The 370mm discs are not only expensive they were designed really poorly they are uni-directional meaning in the real world they are both lefts or rights they are only grooved and vented one way so one is cool the other runs hot stupid

Alex at AKS Tuning is your man, he does the adaptor kit which includes brackets, bolts and lines if needed
DaveB aka professor friction aka 'vagbremtechnic' also do the kit (he supplies Alex I believe), but he's a very busy chap so perhaps try Alex in the first instance
