rusted nut on fuel filter
« on: 21 May 2014, 09:18 »
I need to change the fuel filter on my car as its never been changed. Now i am having misfiring problems, ive been told to change it. Now problem is that i tried and i snapped a bolt on the filter cage, now theres only one bolt left thats holding it. I have sprayed some plus gas on it but if that dont work i have some acid at work that i can dab on the nut. Say if it breaks is it easy to get to drill a hole and use a bolt and nut from the passangers foot well or is it further under the seat base?

Wouldn't worry, won't fall off even with just one bolt.

Just don't snap the second one then

What did you use to undo the first one? I changed it on my 94 estate about 4 years ago.... and that was pretty rusted... but got it off ok with ring spanner and hammer OK after just soaking it for 10 mins with ballistol

LOL - on a fuel filter housing?

Probably do the job but it might have some unintended side effects...
