Body shop Glasgow
« on: 20 May 2014, 16:16 »
Some pillock drove into my car the other day when it was parked. some good scuffs to the bumper, but most annoyingly the front o/s wing is ever so slightly bent and the paint has cracked. Making the bumper just not sit properly any more.

No details left of course.

Can anyone recommend a body shop in Glasgow please?

Audi one in Hillington. Its also VW approved.
I jacked up my car and bent my sill (don't ask) and they sorted it all for a very reasonable price. In fact, cheaper than the place in East Kilbride my wife has used before that is dirt cheap

they done a decent job on my audi s3 but left loads of dust lying about the car  but as p3asa said make sure they are vw approved or it voids your paint warranty try mitchell inglis to the are good

I had my Mk6 Golf (new rear door and painted) repaired by Mitchell Inglis. I'm sure I've documented it on here somewhere.
Anyway very impressive website made me have a look at them. Then when I went for an estimate, 2 Lamborghini's were getting dropped off right in the middle of the car park. So that along with the top-end cars dotted about convinced me it was the right place to go to.

When I got it back, door was squint, door seal not on right, couple of air bubbles in the paint work, dust everywhere. Scratches just along from the work they had carried out.
They sorted a lot of that before I took the car away so I was a bit more happier.
A couple of weeks later, one of my kids opened the car door on to our old rotten wooden fence and it took the paint right off the edge of the door where they had painted. The kids had previously done this without any incident on the Mk6. The paint was literally so thin that they had applied. The car was already booked to be traded in or I would have went back with it.

Unfortunately I wouldn't use them again but I might just have got a poor tradesman for the job but I wasn't impressed at all.

So the first quote was 600 squid

Pretty sure I can source a new wing and get it sprayed for less than that. Is the mk6 and mk6 gti drivers front wing the same? Could someone get me a part number please?

Use a site like http://ifinterface.com/page/page3.php?langid=2 for the part numbers.

Click on Carprog2

Navigate to your model

According to that the wings changed on 01/09/2010 (don't know if thats in the american format)

Left: 5K6821021B
Right: 5K6821022B

Hardware kit 1K0898625A

Also a useful site is the workshop manual site. It will show you how to do it

http://workshop-manuals.com/volkswagen/golf-mk6/body/general_body_repairs_exterior/body_front/wing/front_wing/removing/

Makes the £600 seem like a bargain
