vr6 vag com fault code
« on: 16 May 2014, 22:07 »
so ive plugged my vr6 in today and it came back with error code

1 fault found engine speed sensor (g28) no signal  :undecided:

ive had a search around and phoned gsf for a price = £35.00 for a new sensor, however after a few searches
people who have the obd1 aaa engine have said its perfectly normal as your not driving and its only being tested on ignition.

can someone pop on and tell me the right info. I don't want to go out and buy a speed sensor
until I know for sure

Did you test it with only ignition on or the engine running?

Yes the engine speed sensor will throw the g28 engine speed sensor no signal code when scanned with just the ignition and not running on all obd1's and some obd'2's. If that sensor was faulty it would be likely to show it as 'intermittent' and have noticeable running issues if it ran at all.
