Wing mirrors while reversing
« on: 09 May 2014, 11:23 »
Hi all - quick question...

My wing mirrors are set to dip down while reversing which is a useful feature, however, only the passenger side one seems to do it and only when the little wing mirror joystick is pointing at the L mirror.

Is that correct, or is there something wrong with my driver's side mirror? It doesn't seem to heat up to demist either, so I think there may well be a loose connection or something... The drivers side folds back and adjusts fine, just doesn't dip or demist...

yes its only the passenger side that dips...they will also only demist if have it set on the mirror control and have the rear screen demister turned on

the dipping is a feature set in the setup on the infotainment screen though rather than from the control knob if I remember correctly

The heated mirror setting is one of the worst setups I have ever seen.  Don't know if it's the same as in previous golfs but I find having to to twist that knob clockwise and disable the mirror dip to enable the heat too much work!  If you twist the knob anti clockwise it's less notches but you end folding your mirrors on the way.  In previous motors the wing mirrors heat if you turn on the rear screen heater or there has been a little button to press which heats the mirrors for a short length of time.  They could have had it setup so that you press the knob to heat the mirrors for five mins?  Would have been a much better setup.

Yes, it's the same on the mk6. I've inadvertently folded my mirrors in while driving, when I meant to set them to demist!
