Rear bushes fitting
« on: 01 May 2014, 16:51 »
Need my rear beam bushes changed as thev been banging for a while
Trying to find a good quote to fit these , Found a vw specialist in crawley want £280 supply and fit that is ridiculous
Few local garages will do them for £160 labour
Anyone recommend a place to fit these I might as well drive miles to get them fitted if its cheaper

not too bad a job to do yourself mate, you just need a tool to press them in

I just bought some rear Powerflex bushes, which cost me £63 and my mechanical mate is going to fit them with the engine mount bushes too. I don't think I will cost that much to fit them. I suppose it depends on how long it takes!
Mods: R-Tech custom remap, Beachbuggy K250 Turbo, Forge 007 DV, RAMAIR Jetstream 108 induction filter, silicone piping throughout, R-Tech Supersize TIP, 42 Draft Stealth Catch Can, N249 bypass, Ported Manifold, Toyo Sports FMIC with 2 & 1/2 pipes, Custom made full turbo back exhaust & 2 & 1/2 " downpipe and 200 cell sports cat. BAM injectors, Turbosmart Boost Gauge, BBS CK Wheels, 312mm Brembo front discs and pads, Carbon canister delete and last of all, a liquid cube!

Even easier job if you use superpro bushes come in 2 pieces, think powerflex do 2 piece also

beam bushes can be a very circumstantial job to do. The more worn they are before you start the easier the old ones come out. I've done probably 4 Golfs in my time and some have been really easy and others have been total nightmares.

Best done on a 2 post otherwise you'll be on your back A LOT!

The tool to do them can cost around £80 from Laser, but in essence it literally is a massive threaded bar, 2 nuts, 2 massive washers. The Poly bushes are flat on edges, while the normal one can be odd shapes.

Without this tool the job will be a massive ball ache.

To make getting the old bushes out easier drill a load of holes in them, weakens them enough to crush the outer casing on the bush, can be burnt out but be careful you quite close to fuel tank under there
