1986 MK2 ABF help needed plz

Hey everyone

Havent been on in a while as i  just havent had time but im back and in need of some help if any one can?

this is how m car was when i brought it...

















and this is how she is now in danish blue and with the ABF


















anyway to the issue

i have converted it to abf myself and had it wired by a vw master tek thing is i carnt get hold of him now and im a bit stuck.  the wires to the throttle body were burnt to a crisp so we changed these for new wires but still the throttle body does not self adjust? so the car wont tick over.

On the top of the throttle body there are to pipes which were blocked off but if i unblock the big one it will tick over just too high.  the throttle body makes no noise either so if i can make it work i think it will tick over fine.

The car runs and drives well at high revs. if u keep it in the power it pulls like a train but at low rpm and normall speeds it misfires its nuts off but floor it and when it gets to a point all missfies go and its goes off again. i was very surprised at how quick the thing is lol

does anyone have any idea how to sort this? im gussing its a wireing issue. so do you know any good auto electritions?  im good at the mechanical side of things just not very good with the wires lol

The throttle body isn't a self adjusting type. The ABF engine uses an idle stabilisation valve to tick over, which is situated under the black cover on the front of the upper inlet manifold. What is your inlet setup?

the throttle body does self adjust or is surposed to do something isant it? as when u turn the car on it should make a noise which mine does not. i know they have an isv and the one on mine works as it should i know this cuz i know the engine that it was used on ran perfect. so i dont think that is the issue. pluss i have another isv and it does the same with that one too.

Check you have voltage to the ISV. The noise it makes when you turn the ignition on is the ISV working.

Regarding the misfires, is your timing all correct? I had a similar situation when I did a rebuild on my engine. It would start up n run, but backfire like a bugger in low rpm! Turns out I'd set the cam timing wrong

So how would i do this?  Can i use a multi meter? Thanks dor the help im going to work on it tomorrow so i will try it.

I havent no is there a guide to doing this on an abf as the only thing i ever had to time up was an old 1.3 lol i hope this will sort it out i relly want it on the road asap i miss having my own car.

Stick a multimeter on 20v setting across the two pins to the ISV plug and have someone turn the ignition on.

ok guys managed to get it ticking over. it turned out it was the ISV.
i put 12v accross it from the battary and it ticked so i knew the solinoid was working.
the bit inside didnt move tho it was stuck shut so i cleaned it out untill it was free and
moved with the solinoid.
put it all bk together and it ticks over but lol theres allways a but

its still lumpy and if u rev it it has a very slight missfire but when i drive the car so its under load it has a bad missfire at low to mid low rpm. once through it it drives fine and at full chat it dosent miss a beat.

any ideas?

i have tryed different ht leads but made no difference at all. i cleaned up all the contacts in the dizzy cap and the rotor arm so there all good but still made no difference.  someone on hear mentioned timeing but it never ran like the in the donar car it cam from.
 im thinking it could be mabye the coil breaking down? the lambda sensor? or mabye a dodgy maf sensor?
