There was no loss of no claims, I went elsewhere at renewal, cheapest was about £20 more than Elephant with no smash pricing. I wouldn't have expected to have almost doubled price on premium if it had been my fault. Always protect my no claims.

An Admiral customer clattered my scirocco 3 years ago and they were very quick to make arrangements to offer me a decent courtesy car and arrange repair of my car to avoid my side shafting them with punitive rental rates for a replacement runaround like Elephant did to the bus company with the Golf via a claims management arm called Albany Assistance.

Pointless protecting no claims bonus as your premium goes up anyway after any accident fault or not. Most places charge extra to protect but then hike your premium anyway. Haven't protected mine for years and most only accept 5 as maximum anyway.

I'd rather protect and be paying the price for having 6 years NCD with a recorded accident than 4 years NCD with a recorded accident because I hadn't protected it and they took 2 years off me. It does make a difference, although I don't think a non-fault accident should ever count against you if it was 100% the other party's fault.

If you're never going to have an at fault accident then it's money gone, but you're paying for piece of mind when you protect your no claims, even if you will still be penalised, albeit at a lower level of penalty.

I have had two non fault accidents, both were me being hit by a lorry.

First I was in an A3 waiting at a roundabout and a lorry driver not paying attention went into me leaving an £8000 repair bill, second in a Passat estate, was a drink driver changed lanes onto me, forced me into the central reservation and wrote off the car.

Neither affected either my no claims or my policy in any way in the long term, although the first one required a renewal before the claim had been finalised so I had to pay an updated premium, although once it had been finalised I was refunded.  They were both with Adrian Flux.

Looking forward to receiving the car in the next couple of weeks, driving 1000 miles and ordering the DTUK tuning box. I'm sure i'll be impressed with the standard setup but overwhelmed with the box attached!

A great bit of kit. Easy to install as I have no mechanical experience. Fantastic support from DTUK, before, during and after purchase. Once fitted WOW! The standard GTI set is very good as everyone knows and always brought a smile to   my face, but with the tuning box fitted ........ INCREDIBLE! I still have the subtle gti looks but with near R performance. Thank you Andrew and guys from DTUK.  All I can say is buy one!
