Has anyone found a resonably priced supplier for the kit? Awesomevwant £84 ecs the american who make and supply them to awesome charge $88-£53 roughly,£83 is expensive for two gas struts

If you do enough googling there is a forum post that gives details of the part numbers and you can order them from your VW dealer for a lot less.

I think the gas struts are actually the ones from the Skoda Fabia.

yeah someone on the mk5 forum has the set to buy. most parts are OEM from skoda Octavias.

Oh rite cool, i have read a story or two where people have flupped tgeir struts an it works but rubs somewhere an takes the paint off :-/

I have seen the other kits that have been added and I'm convinced the ECS kit is good!!!

no scraping with this kit so just put my order in tonight

I got the ECS kit off eBay for £30  :cool:

I have this mod planned on my to-do list, just never had the time to go out and find the springs.

Essentially, it's been around for ages and all it involves is putting a couple springs within the original struts and maybe flipping it around depending on if it's working or not

I was thinking about this then realised - when you unlock the car, if youve done the VAGCOM tweak that opens all locks when using the fob, that would mean that the boot woul pop each time you unlock the car wouldnt it?
