I was thinking about this then realised - when you unlock the car, if youve done the VAGCOM tweak that opens all locks when using the fob, that would mean that the boot woul pop each time you unlock the car wouldnt it?

It shouldnt do no as I believe its a seperate switch that actually opens the boot  :nerd:

No!!!
The boot will only fly open if you press and hold the boot release button on your key fob!!!

At the risk of asking a daft question do you need to use vagcom to change anything if you already have the boot button ion your key fob? I assume its just hardware you need?

Thanks Scott. Do you have ALL doors set to unlock with your fob? I do with mine, and that unlocks all including the boot for be - if anything, I cant ever remember using the boot key. Its just the pressure of the spring opening the hatch right? So surely this would happen in my situation. still want to try it though - looks too cool :) Might just have to change the unlock settings

So everytime you unlock your car the boot pops open as if you were holding down the boot release on key fob? If it does somethings drastically wrong i can tell 100% this would not y you boot open everytime you unlock

Matty,

No, currently I have nothing extra installed. If I use the boot release on the key then I can hear the boot unlock, but not pop (I take it that this is due to the stock struts not having enough pressure). My point was that I have it set so that the standard unlock unlocks 'All doors'. When I use the standard unlock button, it also sounds like the boot is being unlocked.

So in my head, both buttons just unlock the boot. Once the newer struts are installed, if one button unlocks the boot to allow the hatch to be pushed up then why wouldn't the other?

I'm probably overthinking it - just to my ears it physically sounds (ie. When I stand by the boot) like both buttons do the same thing. Either it isn't something that happens, or no-one has 'All Doors' set to unlock with the key fob - which seems pretty unlikely.

Anyway - not a major thing, appreciate your feedback - will still give it a go regardless.

The boot pop mod has nothing to to fo with unlocking the boot if you hold the boot unlock button it pops i think it adds a another earth or live or sonething so the boot physically opens you just have to lift it unlocking the doors does not

I think I know where i am going wrong here. I think that there is something up with the mechanism on my boot, because when I hold the boot button it does something (which i though was *unlock* the boot without unlocking doors) but it doesnt actually open the hatch at all ie. Its still latched. Using the VW badge works though. Which is why to me both buttons seemed to do the same.

Went to my mates audi and his boot button lets him just use 1 finger - looks like something to get VW to look at when its in for service next week.
