Hi, I have a 2000 AGU 1.8t golf and was wondering how i would find out if the ecu is remappable or not, without having to take it to somewhere that does ecu remaps.
I have a Vag Com, so would there be a way i can test it? as my nearest ECU remap place charges an additional £100 - £129 if your ECU can't just be remapped via the odb port.

Cheers, Mo

100% obd flashable, but not in the same way as later me7 cars so not all tools/tuners can do it.

Oh right, thanks, I think ill take my ecu out tomorrow to see if i have the 018 CG ecu, that way i'll know if it has full remap-ability

And R-tech is located well over 200 miles from me :/ so i think that's out of question for the time being

Had a look at the ecu earlier and it is the bosch 018 CG ecu, so they should be able to remap it without removing it right?
Cheers, Mo

  • Golf GTI 1.8T AGU
As Toph says it depends on the tuner, R-Tech can definitely map it via the OBD port though

Ah right, Thanks, I don't suppose any of you have had a remap from Zensport before have you? They look like a professional ecu remapping company, but don't seem to know much about which ecu's they can remap - in terms of the VAG group.

in that case dont use them and if 200 miles is to much to know your car is in the best place possible then its your car  let a monkey near it if you want

Ha, thats a good point, I'll see what zensport has to say tomorrow, and If it is going to be an ecu out job, I will take it to r tech  instead.
