I use collinite 476s on my two black cars and my dark blue one.
long lasting and so saves me time nit having to wax as much.

Stunning as Booth's car looks in those pictures, waxes alone won't get it looking as good as that without suitable preparation.

If the paint has marring, swirls, dullness etc, it will need correcting before applying wax. I'm pretty sure that she's had her car from new, and has meticulously looked after it, so great results from waxing are easier to achieve.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Dubber you are quite correct, wax alone won't achieve this on a used car.  I understand the OP is planning to do a full detail, including claying, polishing etc.

I bought my car new so didn't inherit any paintwork defects or issues and it's only ever been cleaned (weekly/fortnightly) and detailed by me.

The pictures I posted show my car after it had just had it's usual weekly snow foam, 2 bucket wash.  It was then waxed and wheel sealant and tyre dressing applied.  A few months prior to that it had been decontaminated using Tardis and IronX, then clayed and machine polished using Poorboys SSR1 (has only a few very minor swirls) followed by an application of Poorboys EX-P sealant then the DJ Blue velvet pro wax.

As you say the level of correction required will depend on the quality of the paintwork to start with.
