Picked up the golf eventually!! (pics)
« on: 02 April 2014, 18:33 »
Hi all, after searching for ages for one i eventually found one. Picked it up other day but just got round to taking a quick pic today. Its a manual with loads of extras inside     the previous owner seems to have kept the car in a great condition and well looked after it!

Give it a nice clean on sunday evening for it to get full of that "Sahara dust rain" on monday morning.    Need some help with products to buy.. Never had a black motor before so what do yous recommend for the wax's etc?

I was planning on putting some wind deflectors, upgraded leds for front sidelights (drls) but not much apart from that. a nice set of ebay gti mats possibly

Lovely car   Sounds like you're enjoying it.

I've used various waxes on my deep black but my favourite has to be Dodo Juice Blue Velvet Pro, gives a beautiful deep gloss.  Other regulars I use (specifically for dark colours) include Collinite 915 and Nattys Blue Paste.  Also had great results with Chemical Guys Butter Wet Wax for a nice wet look finish (suitable for any colour).  DJ Purple Haze also good too.  Black Hole Glaze gives a nice shine, especially when topped off with a good wax and will disguise any minor swirl marks.

Full size pots ain't cheap, but you can get a panel pot if you want to try it out.

yerh, i think i will just go for the 200ml larger pot.  found some for £44 online. how long has it lasted for you just the full car once?  or twice?

The big pot will last ages.  I've done 4 applications from it and still over half left.  Two coats is ideal but as I'm usually time limited, so it normally one coat.  I've been impressed with its longevity, lasts a good few weeks.  Once left it 3 months between waxes and it was still beading nicely.

Blue Velvet Pro in the flesh:

WOW Booth !!!

Your car looks stunning !

Reminds me, mine needs a good clean to make it look like yours again... I might hold off as the car will be parked up at the airport parking next week. I have a business trip to Seattle and with this dirty rain seems pointless cleaning it until I get back.

Cheers Peter W.  Looks like a moving sand dune at the moment though

chris1h - pics are just to give you an idea of the look blue velvet pro, gives great protection too.  Love to see some pics when you've given it the full works.

Other minor cosmetic mods you might want to consider are:

Interior and boot LED lights upgrade - cheap but very effective mod.
Red footwell LEDs - give nice ambience at night
GTI seat inserts
GTI footrest plate

I am genuinely shocked at how shiny yours looks in that pic. wow mate!  will be buying a pot of that blue velvet and will post some pics.  I already ordered the gti seat inserts and fitted them yesterday! nice neat option! as for the others i will look into them also. I think the interior leds are a must at some point though!

cheers for the help mate!
