Not sure if I'd jump straight on a Lambda personally. Air leaks, dodgy temp sensors etc can all make the car run rich and throw that code.

What I thought. How much do you reckon a garage will want for a pressure/ smoke test of the whole PCV and intake system?
I thought Volkswagens were supposed to be reliable?

Id just like to add i keep getting the 17550 code only and i too am getting a strong fuel smell from time to time. I think i know what is causing the code im just not having the time to work o it what with work etc.
